IBEX is back online

The NASA IMAP mission (Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe), which involves the team from the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences preparing their own experiment and research instrument called GLOWS (Global solar Wind Structure), would not have been possible without another heliospheric mission – IBEX (Interstellar Boundary Explorer).

Our involvement in the IBEX mission, important discoveries, and analyses led to an invitation to participate in the work on the IMAP scientific satellite. The IBEX satellite, after 15 years of work in orbit, recently suffered a serious malfunction that could have resulted in the end of the mission. Fortunately, engineers were able to regain contact with the probe.

More about this event and our involvement in both missions can be found under the following link (polish).
